One of the traits that we know of in highly successful people, is a strong awareness of their own strengths and weaknesses.  They make the most of their strengths and they compensate for their weakness, often hiring people whose strengths make up for those weaknesses.

Identifying your personal strengths and weaknesses is a difficult task.  Some people enlist the help of others that are close to them and know them well, but even then it is a difficult task. Fortunately for us, Tony Robbins has a FREE behavioural assessment on his website called the Personal Strengths Profile (The Innermetrix DISC Index).

Completing this assessment allows you to create a strategy for your success based on your strengths.  The really great thing about this assessment is that it generates two PDF reports that are yours to download and save.

The first report is called the Personal Strengths Profile and it identifies your behavioural style and preferences in four categories:

  1. Decisive
  2. Interactive
  3. Stability
  4. Cautiousness

It then goes into a detailed analysis of each category.

The second report is called the Values Index Profile and it measures 7 dimensions of motivation:

  1. Aesthetic
  2. Economic
  3. Individualistic
  4. Political
  5. Altruistic
  6. Regulatory
  7. Theoretical

This report also goes on to examine each dimension in further detail giving you insight into your strengths and the areas you may need to work on or, at the very least, be aware of.

If you’ve been struggling with identifying your strengths, as I have, I highly recommend using this tool.  You can find it at www.TonyRobbins.com .  Click on the ‘Experiences’ Tab on the top menu bar and select ‘Personal Strengths Profile / Behavioural Assessment’.

After you read your reports, come back and share your thoughts with us!  Do you think this assessment will help others? If so, share this post.

Wishing you great success,

Wendy Hewlett

  1. Wendy,
Thanks so much for sharing that link. I didn’t know it was available and I’m sure it will be very interesting! I’ll be taking it later this morning……Sometimes, those assessments can be very revealing and other times they can help to reinforce what we thought about ourselves. I’m interested to see what this one says….. :-)

    Thanks again,
    Robin

  2. Hi Wendy,

Successful people become successful by being self-aware. Only through identifying and analyzing strengths/weaknesses can you develop a success strategy.

This looks like a powerful tool: Robbins is a master at motivating.

Thanks for sharing with us :)

  3. Wow! Excellent post. I love Tony Robbins.
    He is so real.
    I shall take the assessment.

  4. Hi Wendy,

I agree, it’s incredibly important for each of us to identify our strengths and weaknesses in order to succeed at anything we choose to accomplish. Once we do this, we can then decide what actions to take, either work on improving the weaknesses or (if they are task based) hand them off to someone who can better handle the task.

Looks like an interesting assessment. Thanks.

  5. That seems like a very cool assessment tool and I’ll definitely have to check it out. Though I’ve never gotten to see Tony Robbins in person, I always love his stuff. I got meet his son, Jairek Robbins, this weekend and hearing him speak was one of the highlights of the event. So I know that his dad has got to be amazing in person as well.

    Great stuff Wendy :)

  6. Fascinating post, Wendy. You are absolutely right about the need for self-awareness. I have taken some of these tests in the past and I learn something new about myself each time. Mostly it’s good news, because I’ continually growing!

    Alan

    • Continually growing is what it’s all about! I better we know ourselves, the better we can determine where we need that growth most.
      Thanks for your comment Alan.

  7. Absolutely! Successful people are very aware Wendy and you’ve made some excellent points here. One of the best advice I’ve ever been given in business is focus on what you do best and outsource the rest!

    • That’s absolutely true Eddie. I always thought it was best to work on bettering your weaknesses. It’s only in the last few months that I figured out that I was wrong about that. Often what we do best is what we love the most too – win / win

Thanks for your comment Eddie. I enjoyed your blog post on the No Excuses Summit. Great info … I took notes!! :)

    • I really think that it is a tool that can make a huge difference. I would never of thought of half of the things that come out in the report. It is very eye opening and such a valuable too. Thanks for your comment Bill.

  9. Wendy,
As a psychologist, you are preaching to the choir when you speak of self-awareness! Now linking it to SUCCESS, that is a brilliant strategy to motivate people to awareness. I’m looking forward to trying out the instrument and learning more about myself.
    Thanks so much,
    Adam

    • Hi Adam,
Let me know what you think about the assessment! For me it was very revealing, but it also confirmed a lot of things for me. I’m anxious to get your opinion.

      Thanks,
      Wendy

  12. Hi Wendy, met you through TSA. I’m not at all fimilar with Tony Robbins. I have not not yet done the assessment, but it sound like a helpful tool. I’m intrested in trying it to see what I will learn about myself. Hopefully, there may be some helpful strategies that I could adapt or ideas to help me create some strategies.
