I’ve been promising for a while now to create a video showing how to use Power Point to create your own graphics. We all know that the image we create for ourselves online can make or break us. Having consistent graphics throughout all of your Social Media platforms is one way that you can portray a professional image. You may not think that graphics are a big deal when it comes to your business, but they do play a roll in how people perceive you.
So sit back, relax and enjoy this tutorial on creating great graphics for your Blog or Social Media platforms. (I have used my laptop to create this video because it is the computer that I have Microsoft Office on. The problem with recording a video on my laptop is any keystrokes are very loud and bothersome … so I am apologizing in advance for the ‘tapping’ of the keys
.)
Do you already create your own graphics or is it something that you are likely to do? I would love to hear your comments and also, I would love to see some of the graphics that you create. Get creative and really have some fun with it.
In my next post I’ll show you how to use some FREE software to create your own graphics.
If you're new here, welcome! You may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

If you’ve got Photoshop, I would definitely use that to create graphics. I use Adobe Illustrator more than Photoshop, but I love them both. When I started out Blogging, I didn’t have the software that I have now and I couldn’t justify paying for graphics. I used PowerPoint to create my Blog header, Facebook Profile Pic and any other designs I needed for my social media accounts. It works great and you can always upgrade to better design software if you find you will get a lot of use out of it.
I love the look of your Blog too. Your header really caught my eye when I visited your site.

Awesome job on the graphics creation. This posting has inspired me to do one for myself using Keynote. You said to send you examples of some of my stuff if I had any. So just head over to my blog DereckArreguin.com and take a look around.
Almost all of my graphics on my sirte are all created using the keynote platform.
Anyhow, I know there will be a great number of people who find this video to be useful. Keep up the good work and I’ll be back again.

Hi Dereck,
I checked out the graphics on your Blog and I am impressed! I love it when people get creative and do their own designs. I think that it really adds to your online presence when you have created the look yourself. It becomes an extension of who you are.
I haven’t used keynote, but I will definitely have to check it out.
Thanks for sharing your work with me!!

You’re right Wendy, we can use Power Point for many purposes and as long as it gets the job done why not use it? I’ve always used power point for presentations and its just brilliant. Photoshop undoubtedly have more sophisticated and advanced features but it’s always a pleasure to get back to power point and work out something creative and innovative.
Photoshop is awesome for those who can afford it and you also have to know what you are doing. There is a huge learning curve, especially for those who are not technically inclined. I have Adobe Creative Suite CS5 for my graphics business and I love it.
Using PowerPoint is a great alternative when you are first starting out and don’t want to invest a lot of money into your design and graphics.
Wendy
Great tutorial Wendy! I like using power point too since I’m already familiar with it but I found that my end result wasn’t coming out clean and crisp. After watching you though, I picked up a couple things I wasn’t doing so this was very helpful. Thanks!!!.

Hi Wendy,
good to see how you did all those things in Power Point.
I have learned that you can save Power Point as a jpg or what ever file option you choose.
You made it look very easy to follow.
I have been exploring the many options on GIMP the free photoshop.
It is a lot of fun.
Thank you so much!

Hi Wendy,
What a great tutorial…I could have really used this a couple of weeks ago. What I really like is that it is a much faster way of creating graphics especially backgrounds. I have created a few of my own the hard way and find that it takes an inordinate amount of time to get the look I’m after. Sadly, hiring it out can take even longer though so I’m all for learning how to do great graphics faster. Thanks for the tips!

I agree 10 has some powerful features. But I am very reluctant to upgrade because they have removed something very critical to me – the Selection Pane. I find their new method of selecting items on layers almost impossible to use. If the layers were more like Adobe products, this would be quite nice, however, I frequently animate items on and off screen and this would cripple the way I synch my graphics with my audio.

A Powerpoint presentation becomes static and one sided since there is no white space to note down comments from participants. Can the Projectors be adjusted to cover only a part of the whiteboard (screen) so the rest of the board can be used for writing ?
