I have added a new category to my Blog and in honour of this new category, Wendy’s Book Club, I would like to introduce you to a new book that was released just last week.

This weekend, I have been attending a Toastmasters Conference in Toronto.  My first stop when I arrived at the conference on Friday evening was the bookstore.  I purchased ‘Speeches That Will Leave Them Speechless: An ABC Guide to Magnifying Your Speaking Success‘, before realizing that the author, Kathryn MacKenzie, was speaking at the conference.   I had the honour of meeting Kathryn MacKenzie, and hearing her speak.  If you are interested in public speaking and honing your public speaking skills, I absolutely recommend this book. If you are a student of Napoleon Hill’s Success Principles or the book “Think and Grow Rich”, then you are probably familiar with the term “Definite Major Purpose”.  One of the 17 Success Principles is ‘Definiteness of Purpose’.  Hill states that in order to be successful, you must have a definite goal AND definite plans for attaining that goal.

I am an avid reader and have an extensive ‘wish list’ when it comes to books that I want to read.  One of the books that has been on that list for some time is Napoleon Hill’s “Daily Journal for Everyday Women“.  (There is also a “Daily Journal for Everyday Men“.)  It is a daily planning guide and action journal.  It allows you to study Hill’s 17 Principles in depth and apply them to your everyday life.  You start off by defining your ‘Definite Major Purpose’, or your major goal and then you develop a plan for achieving it.  You break your major goal down into monthly goals and then weekly goals and, finally, daily goals.   Each month you focus on one or two of the Principles. I was reading a book by Erik Qualman called ‘Socialnomics” recently and at one point the author talked about assessing your life through your social media posts.  I found this quite fascinating and thought I would share it with you.
