Happy New Year! Are you ready to make 2011 your best year ever?  Here are some steps to get you off to a great start to the year:

Step 1:  Define Your Goals for 2011

If you don’t know what your goals are, you will never achieve them.  Determine your top 2 – 3 goals for the year.  They could be anything such as earning a specific amount of money, attaining a certain level in your company, health and wellness goals, writing or publishing a book … whatever is important to you to achieve in the next year.

Don’t be afraid to set big goals.  You want to stretch and challenge yourself, yet still be realistic.  Write your goals down.  This is a very important step.  Write them down and place them in a spot that you can see them and review them daily.  This will keep you focused on your objectives. In Network Marketing the key to success is in building relationships and trust.  One skill that is often overlooked, but is an effective relationshiip builder,  is the art of listening.  “Listeners are powerful persuaders because they impact our attitudes and make us more successful.” ~ Vince DaCosta

Everyone wants to be listened to, so we seek out listeners.  If you establish yourself as a good listener, it will be easy for you to build meaningful relationships.  Ask questions and show sincere interest in what the other person is saying.

When we think of good communication skills, we often picture a great speaker.  However, communication is a two part equation.  We cannot be an effective speaker if no one is listening.  Listening skills have been overlooked in importance and they can give you the competitive edge that your buisness needs. I have found that life experience accounts for a great deal of your personal wisdom.  Lessons learned through trial and error build your character, self-esteem, self-confidence, etc.  I know that I get wiser as I age, but imagine having 90 years worth of life experiences to draw on.  Would you take advice from that person?  I certainly would.

Regina Brett, a 90-year-old woman from Cleveland, Ohio, wrote out a list of 45 lessons life has taught her.  It gives us an opportunity to learn some of life’s lessons without going through the trials and tribulations, so I thought I would share her insights with you: Continue reading »

It has been a week since I last posted on this blog.  In that short time span, everything has changed for me.  It has been a week of self-discovery and breakthroughs.  I’m not the same person I was just seven days ago.

I was introduced to personal development by my mother.  She became a student of Hatha Yoga and even had her own  Meditation and Relaxation show on a local TV station.  As a teenager, I was embarassed by it.  In retrospect, I wish I had been more open minded about it.  She bought Tony Robbins’ courses on cassette tape when he first broke onto the scene some three decades ago and I fell in love with personal growth as a result.

It wasn’t until this past February that I really began to devour personal development.  I’ve had many little breakthroughs since in discovering how I had gone from someone who had total and confident belief in herself and her abilities, to someone who was facing challenge after challenge and believed in her ‘dis’ability. If you are a student of Napoleon Hill’s Success Principles or the book “Think and Grow Rich”, then you are probably familiar with the term “Definite Major Purpose”.  One of the 17 Success Principles is ‘Definiteness of Purpose’.  Hill states that in order to be successful, you must have a definite goal AND definite plans for attaining that goal.

I am an avid reader and have an extensive ‘wish list’ when it comes to books that I want to read.  One of the books that has been on that list for some time is Napoleon Hill’s “Daily Journal for Everyday Women“.  (There is also a “Daily Journal for Everyday Men“.)  It is a daily planning guide and action journal.  It allows you to study Hill’s 17 Principles in depth and apply them to your everyday life.  You start off by defining your ‘Definite Major Purpose’, or your major goal and then you develop a plan for achieving it.  You break your major goal down into monthly goals and then weekly goals and, finally, daily goals.   Each month you focus on one or two of the Principles. Over the past few weeks, I’ve gotten to know the GREAT Edward Elliott a bit better through working on a project together.   Of course, I know Ed through the TSA, but I knew of him even before I became involved with the TSA (Tribe Syndication Association – if you haven’t heard of it yet, click on the TSA button in my sidebar and join a great group of people helping each other on the road to success).  It seemed like every Blog that I visited back then, there was a comment from Edward.  He was everywhere and he has certainly earned the title of Syndication Master! Here’s the recap of the Laws we’ve covered:

  1. The Law of Thinking
  2. The Law of Supply
  3. The Law of Attraction
  4. The Law of Receiving
  5. The Law of Increase
  6. The Law of Compensation
  7. The Law of Non-Resistance
  8. The Law of Forgiveness
  9. The Law of Sacrifice
  10. The Law of Obedience

The last of the Universal Laws is the Law of Success. According to Bob Proctor, no matter what you do, it is a success. There will be a result. Whether or not you do things well or poorly, heathly or unhealthly, with quality or without, attractive or unattractive, rich or poor – it is going to work. Continue reading »

Law number 10 is the Law of Obedience. This Law is quite simple – obey the natural Laws of the Universe and they will reward you.  It is important to know and understand the Laws as not being aware of them could cause you to disobey them unintentionally. Continue reading »

Here’s another quick recap of the Laws we’ve covered so far:

  4. The Law of Receiving
  5. The Law of Increase
  6. The Law of Compensation
  7. The Law of Non-Resistance
  8. The Law of Forgiveness

Up next is the Law of Sacrifice, which states that everything has a price and willingness to pay the price is the only way to achieve what you desire. The Law of Sacrifice is about letting go of the little things and moving towards the greater. Stay on track, keep the big picture in mind and don’t concentrate on the trivial. Continue reading »
